The rain bow this morning when I woke up made me feel hopeful. Maybe more hopeful than the day turned out. (not a top ten day in the least. good thing it’s not Friday.) Now that this day is almost over
Now that the day is over, this picture still makes me smile.
Sometimes I miss home. You might call me crazy but I miss the snow. I miss the river I live by, both of them actually. I miss lakes and people who seek English everywhere. I miss birds I can identify by their sounds and corn fields no one misses corn fields sorry. They are boring after five min. Though I do miss bagels and dairy queens and chipotle. So today is a sunset from my where I lived my first year in college. I might of had a crazy roommate, but I did have a good view.
As the sun was rising in Palma this Monday, another one half way around the world was setting. Tamar was a debater I knew in High School, we traveled together and she was very close friends with my teammates. This Sunday, just before midnight in Oruro Bolivia, she died. Suddenly and tragically after being severely injured in a Land Rover accident on the 2nd. Tamar was always full of life and spirit when I knew her and, if the stories I have been hearing recently have an ounce of truth, she was still one of the kindest and happiest people around. Not only that she had smarts. You can find her full story here, or at her CaringBridge sight here.
I wish I had something more eloquent to say here, something I could tell her parents, her friends, her family, to let them know she was loved, but I don´t know what that is. Instead all I can say is she will be missed, a sun has set, and this one is for you Tamar, wherever you are.

I was talking to my mom on skype the other day and complaining that I did not have any cool sunsets to share on Monday. Like any mom she set me strait real quick and reminded me that not all sunsets can be beautiful some just have to be ordinary. I have gotten so used to the spectacular here, it has become ordinary. I forgot how much the view from my room takes my breath away sometimes. Today’s sunset is not specifically spectacular, but it sure is beautiful.
Well it is good that there is a 7 hour time difference between here and home because it is 5:30 PM here and the sun is setting in reality. Today I am also cheating a little. I am borrowing a photo from the internet, but it looks almost exactly like the rainbow I saw as I walked to class this morining. Sometimes rainbows are a blessing because they always remind me to look at the beauty in the storm, I needed that this morning. So here you go. Happy Monday everyone
